Senior AI Engineer (Product Focus)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI Engineer to play a key role in integrating and optimizing Large Language Models (LLMs) to deliver transformative value across our platform. This is a highly collaborative, product-focused role operating within a remote-first environment.

You will own the technical execution and continuous improvement of all LLM-powered features across our product suite. Your work will involve deeply integrating AI capabilities into our backend systems to enhance user experience and deliver intelligent capabilities.

What You'll Own:

• Prompt Engineering: Design, experiment with, and rigorously refine prompts and system instructions to maximize the effectiveness, reliability, and security of LLMs across various product features.
• LLM-Powered Feature Development: Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineering to develop and integrate new backend features using LLMs, primarily enhancing our platform with intelligent capabilities.
• Coding & Integration: Write and maintain high-quality production code (primarily in TypeScript, with some Python) to implement LLM interactions. This includes building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, working with vector embeddings, and handling content chunking. The majority of your time will be spent shipping production code.
• Continuous Improvement & Evaluation: Continuously evaluate the quality of LLM outputs using internal testing and user feedback. You will design and implement evaluation frameworks and develop automated testing pipelines to monitor key metrics and ensure consistent quality and performance.
• Data Pipelines: Iterate on model settings and data pipelines (e.g., RAG) to improve LLM performance over time and deliver a better, more reliable user experience.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, product-minded software engineer with deep expertise in applying LLMs to production environments.

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering and AI/LLM development (we are open to candidates with less experience but exceptionally strong pedigree).
• Proven ability to work in a highly collaborative, product-focused environment.
• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python for building production-level AI features.
• Strong practical experience with Prompt Engineering and optimizing LLM outputs.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and working with Vector Databases and embeddings.
• Experience designing and implementing evaluation frameworks and automated testing for LLM performance.
• Excellent asynchronous communication skills, essential for success within a distributed, remote team.

Work Policy:

• This is a fully remote position, but the candidate must be located and authorized to work in the USA.
