Position Summary:
As part of the Americas Regional Product Marketing Team, this role will be responsible for marketing of Illumina’s products with a focus on Benchtop sequencing platforms and associated applications. This individual will work cross functionally to develop and execute on marketing plans with the end goal of driving new placements and system utilization. By developing a deep understanding of customer needs and NGS application landscape, this person will serve as the regional lead for new product introductions and key product updates including leading go to market strategy, sales training, and enablement. This individual will work closely with their counterparts across Global and Regional Marketing teams to ensure alignment with global, regional and segment strategies and cross-functional regional marketing campaigns. Ideal candidates will have industry-specific commercial experience, have worked in cross-functional teams successfully, and have a history of working constructively with a variety of different stakeholders throughout an organization. A good understanding of the NGS market, applications, and customer base is essential for the success of this individual.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute on Americas Regional Go to Market strategy for Benchtop sequencing platforms and related library prep and informatics workflows.
Accountable for crafting and executing strategic plans to support product and revenue strategies at regional, market, and/or customer segment level.
Responsible for providing input to Product Management on NPI strategy and management of product launch in region.
Gathers understanding of customer needs and develops product-segment intersected go-to-market strategy for benchtop sequencers.
Collaborate across regional product and segment marketing, program management, and global marketing to execute on region-wide marketing campaigns and strategies.
Collects market & customer insight through face-to-face engagement. Responsible for reporting of regional market intelligence in the benchtop sequencing space.
Analyzes regional product launch KPIs and reports VOC and VOF feedback to Regional Management and Product Marketing teams.
Facilitates product-specific training and sales enablement for Sales Specialists, Commercial Sales Teams, and Partners.
Assist in the development of sales enablement tools and support sales teams by providing guidance for product messaging and positioning, objection handling and identifying target customers.
Work in tandem with global marketing and sales to ensure alignment of strategy, messaging, and tactics.
Partners with internal and external stakeholders to develop marketing content (campaigns, positioning, messaging, etc.)
Defines product solution (including library prep, automation, sequencing, and informatics) for key NGS methods in partnership with Global Product Marketing, Market Segment, Commercial, and other stakeholders.
Position Requirements:
Considerable ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external audiences using both oral and written communication skills
Proven track-record of working constructively with sales
Understanding of genomics technologies broadly, and deep understanding of NGS specifically
Experience in and familiarity with the NGS market including customer base, market segments, technologies, products, and applications.
Ability to own both long-term strategy and executional detail
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Organizational capabilities to drive work proactively
Previous experience in customer-facing role (sales, support, etc.) is preferred
Preferred Experience/Education:
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or PhD a plus.
7+ years of experience in marketing, sales, support and/or market development in life sciences, or related industries
