Description
The Director of Yard Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational oversight, and performance management of Keystone Clearwater Solutions’ yard infrastructure, fleet assets, and equipment logistics. This role provides leadership to Yard Managers and operational teams while ensuring efficient asset utilization, maintenance reliability, inventory control, and regulatory compliance.The Director will lead initiatives to improve operational efficiency, reduce equipment downtime, strengthen asset accountability, and support the continued growth of Keystone’s field operations. This position serves as a key operational partner to field leadership, logistics teams, procurement, and executive leadership to ensure the company’s equipment, transportation, and yard operations support business objectives safely and efficiently.
This position is based out of the Dallas Pike, WV facility, with oversight of additional regional yards and operational support locations.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all Keystone yard operations including asset management, logistics coordination, equipment maintenance, and inventory control
- Lead and develop Yard Managers and yard personnel while establishing operational standards, accountability, and performance expectations
- Oversee lifecycle management of company assets including procurement coordination, deployment, maintenance scheduling, repair tracking, and retirement planning
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company operational standards
- Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to maximize asset reliability and reduce operational downtime
- Direct logistics operations including heavy haul transportation, hot shot deliveries, and equipment deployment to job sites
- Maintain yard organization, storage standards, and equipment protection to ensure operational efficiency and asset preservation
- Partner with procurement and supply chain teams to manage vendor relationships and evaluate vendor performance and pricing structures
- Oversee inventory management processes including asset tracking, auditing, reconciliation, and reporting of equipment and consumables
- Manage and support asset tracking technologies such as GPS tracking, RFID systems, and digital inventory management tools
- Identify operational improvement opportunities and provide recommendations for capital expenditures and operational enhancements
- Collaborate closely with field leadership to ensure timely deployment of equipment and resources to job sites
- Assist with workforce planning, scheduling coordination, and repair prioritization to minimize operational disruption
- Serve as an escalation point for complex issues related to yard operations, equipment reliability, logistics coordination, and asset availability
- Travel to regional yard locations and operational facilities as needed
- Occasional overnight travel may be required
- Availability to respond to operational issues outside of normal business hours when necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive leadership experience managing yard operations, equipment logistics, fleet management, or operational teams within oil & gas, construction, or heavy industrial environments
- Demonstrated experience managing large equipment fleets, maintenance programs, and asset tracking systems
- Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory compliance requirements
- Proven leadership experience managing supervisors, managers, and multi-location operational teams
- Strong operational planning, logistics coordination, and asset management experience
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Strong financial awareness including budgeting, cost management, and capital expenditure planning
- Advanced organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational tracking systems
- Experience managing equipment fleets across multiple geographic regions
- Experience within water transfer, oil & gas field services, heavy equipment operations, or industrial logistics environments
- Experience implementing asset tracking technologies or preventative maintenance systems
