JOB SUMMARY: The Grounds and Facilities Maintenance Helper is responsible for the comprehensive upkeep and presentation of the organization's exterior and interior environments. This includes performing landscaping duties such as mowing, edging, grass treatment, and general grounds care, as well as the removal of litter and debris to maintain a clean and safe property. The helper ensures the cleanliness and organization of the shop floor and breakroom, including sweeping and trash removal. Additional responsibilities include minor facility repairs, painting, fence maintenance, and the operation of a forklift for material handling. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while maintaining compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

PRINCIPAL   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Grounds Maintenance:

• Perform landscaping duties including mowing, edging, and treatment of grass.
• Pick up and properly dispose of trash and debris across the property.
• Conduct seasonal grounds care such as fertilizing, weed control, minor irrigation repairs, and preventative safety measures during the winter (spreading salt/cinder on the office stairs, steps, and parking lot).
• Maintain and repair fences, paint exterior and interior surfaces as needed.

Facility Upkeep:

• Sweep and maintain cleanliness of the shop floor.
• Remove all trash from the shop floor and surrounding areas.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the building, including the breakroom and common areas.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks to uphold facility standards, such as clogged drains, toilets, basic welding, cleaning and oiling equipment and rolling stock.

Operational Support:

• Operate a forklift, scissor lift, and overhead crane safely and efficiently for moving materials and equipment.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Assist with inventory organization and storage solutions.
• Support operations on facility moves, storage racks, cabinets, office furniture, etc.

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Experience in landscaping and ground maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair.
• Ability to operate landscaping equipment and a forklift (certification preferred).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Outdoor and indoor work across various areas of the property.
• Exposure to weather conditions, noise, and equipment.
