Status: Full-Time with Benefits
Pay Range: $90,000 - $98,000/ Annually
Work Schedule: Hybrid : Monday - Friday 9 AM - 5 PM (remote days confirmed upon hire)
Office Location: Manhattan, NY 10017

Position Summary:
Housing Plus is seeking a Senior Accountant of Grant Management and Budgeting within its Finance department. This position reports to the Executive VP of Finance. The Senior Accountant of Grant Management and Budgeting duties includes creating budgets for the organization for final board approval. Maintain KPIs and report same to program administrators and management.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze budget vs actual performance on a monthly basis and discuss with individual program administrators.
- Manage and prepare organization line item budgets, including annual budget forecast.
- Review actual spending and staffing patterns monthly and make adjustment as necessary.
- Manage government grants and invoice government funders monthly.
- Work closely with the payroll department to update staff cost distribution as needed.
- Oversee and advise on cost allocation.
- Review and update OPTS & fringe benefits cost allocation quarterly.
- Maintain monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each program within the organization.
- Prepare all foundation/private funding budgets and reporting schedules.
- Prepare budget for any/all new project.
- Communicate with outside stakeholders to ensure grants are funded timely.
- Ensure accuracy of the general ledger for all revenues and expenses vs budget.
- Work with third parties and provide documents for all funding renewals and new contracts.
- Interface with auditors and provide data and documents to auditors as required.
- Work on ad-hoc and special projects as requested by supervisor.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal skills for working with diverse organization staff, in a positive, inclusive work environment.
- Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
- Experience with working with program directors to review budgets and spending trends.
- Ability to review budgets vs actuals periodically and suggest and perform budget adjustments.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
- Requires excellent communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college.
- At least 5 years of budget and reporting experience.
- Experience with government funders a plus.
