Responsibilities
As the Senior Staff Architect, you will lead the design and implementation of the architecture supporting integrations and scalability with our core systems, including Guidewire Claims Center, a policy system, 3rd party billing platform, and an enterprise document management system. Additionally, you will architect and support solutions for an underwriting workbench, internal agency management system, and our customer portal. Ensuring seamless integration, high availability, and a superior user experience. This is a high-impact role where you will influence both strategic decisions and hands-on technical execution.
Key functions include but are not limited to:
- Architectural Strategy
- Define and evolve Intrepid’s technology architecture, ensuring seamless integration with core systems (agency management system, billing system, claims system, document management system, policy system, and other external platforms).
- Define technical requirements, lead architectural discussions, and participate in technical reviews focused on experience, performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
- Enterprise System Design
- Design end-to-end solutions that are scalable, secure, and maintainable across our insurance platforms, including core systems and customer facing portals.
- Technical Leadership
- Serve as a technical advisor and mentor for engineering teams, providing guidance on design, implementation, best practices, and technical problem solving.
- Foster a positive culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Technology Roadmap
- Partner with stakeholders to align the technical roadmap with business objectives, balancing immediate needs with mid to long-term goals.
- Collaborate with engineering leadership, product teams, and engineering teams to guide our technology roadmap and advocate for prioritization of initiatives.
- Drive automation initiatives that reduce cost or maintenance.
- Identify and advocate for application of AI within products and services.
- Scalability and Performance
- Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability to support business growth and ensure a seamless user experience.
- Security and Compliance
- Implement and enforce best practices for secure software design and ensure adherence to compliance standards.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, product, and operations, to ensure architectural and technology alignment.
- Emerging Technologies & Industry Trends
- Stay current with trends in the industry (both insurance and technology), evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance operational efficiency and create competitive advantages for Intrepid.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- 15+ years of software engineering and architecture experience, including 3+ years in a senior architectural role within the insurance, fintech, or highly regulated industries.
- Experience implementing or architecting solutions that integrate with claims systems, policy systems, and billing platforms.
- Expertise building and integrating enterprise systems with external platforms such as agency management systems/CRMs, workflow engines, and highly available customer portals.
- Deep knowledge of modern technology stacks, microservices architecture, and event-driven design.
- Strong background in full-stack development, with proficiency in C#, .NET, SQL, and Angular for similar front end framework.
