Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented, and motivated Mid-Level Transportation Engineer for immediate employment for the Akron, OH office.

This role will provide the opportunity to directly support transformational projects including the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project. This project is one of the largest highway infrastructure projects in the country and entails design and construction of existing bridge improvements and a new bridge crossing of the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Covington Kentucky, along with 8 miles of significant highway improvements. Design has begun and will extend over the coming years, providing a unique opportunity for multiple career-defining roles on the project. • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
• Identifies discrepancies in results.
• Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
• Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
elements for engineering works. 
• Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire if current PE is out of state
  • Computer skills using Microsoft office, HCS, Synchro, HISSM, AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred. Strong familiarity with InRoads a plus
  • Prior experience working on traffic safety design projects preferred
  • Individuals with related experience in traffic signal design, traffic control, traffic crash analysis, traffic studies, or roadway design will also be considered.
  • Prior experience working with the Ohio Department of Transportation is a plus
