DoorDash Labs is a team within DoorDash building autonomous delivery robots and other autonomy solutions from the ground up for DoorDash's core delivery platform. If you have a passion for applying autonomy and robotics in a service used by millions of people daily, then we want to talk to you!

About the Role

You will report to a HW Technical Program Management lead and will interface with product, hardware, software, operation, testing and supplier . This role is a hybrid role and requires being on site at our SF office 2 days per week. In this role you will help build the next generation of robotic systems within DoorDash Labs from the ground up! We’re a team of people who live and breathe building robots and complex electromechanical systems. We’re unfazed by challenges or new problems and strive to build world class solutions.

  • Be part of an exciting effort to develop and manufacture new autonomous delivery robot 
  • Lead internal multi-functional development teams and drive issue resolution for R&D project  and/or various HW sub-system development, like drive train, sensor, compute, battery, ID, or sub-control systems
  • Manage external key module or component supplier for engineer development and parts delivery to meet development schedule
  • Work with system TPM to ensure R&D, module and component development and delivery meets overall product schedule
  • Present and communicate module development and R&D project status to the program or executive team

We're excited about you because you have… 

  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience
  • Bachelor or above degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics or related technical field
  • Proven record of delivering hardware product or modules from concept to high volume manufacturing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of hardware product development cycle 
  • Preferred strong technical background in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering

Compensation

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
