Phlebotomist II Certified - Hospital Lab

The Phlebotomist II is responsible for receiving orders for laboratory testing from the hospital computer system, collecting blood from patients of any age or status, and logging specimens into the laboratory computer system. This individual ensures timely collection of all specimens by placing advanced orders in proper slots on collection board and by collecting stats within established turnaround times. The Phlebotomist II correctly labels all specimens and ensures that collections are not missed due to errors and echos from the computer system. He/she keeps phlebotomy area clean and stocked with supplies. The Phlebotomist II follows state, OSHA and other agency regulations, performs special procedures, and assists the lab aide when necessary.

Qualifications:

A. Education

1. High school diploma or GED from an accredited institute required
2. Completion of a phlebotomy program of study preferred

B. Experience

1. Prior experience as a Phlebotomist preferred

C. Licensure

1. Certified as a Phlebotomist from a nationally recognized institute preferred
