Position Title: Research and Development Specialist

Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research and Development Specialist for our SunWarrior brand. This brand-focused role will support our Research and Development department with engineering change requests, preparing certifications for approval, lab technician tasks, product flavoring and formulating, and more duties as assigned.   

Key Responsibilities:
     Pre-ECR Responsibilities
•    Manage all Pre-ECR New Product Process tasks, including:
o    Competitive analyses
o    Ingredient sourcing
o    Tub fill assessments
•    Conduct applications bench work and on-site sensory evaluations.
•    Run taste panels and synthesize sensory feedback.
•    Coordinate with Supply Chain and Quality teams.
•    Act as a tactical liaison for project execution and formulation iteration.
•    Support continuous process improvements across the value stream.

Engineering change Request (ECR) Management

•    Own and manage all ECRs (SunWarrior, Vitauthority, WL/PL)
•    Lead international label compliance (CA, MX, UK, Germany), with a strong focus on Amazon standards in Canada and Mexico.
•    Coordinate certification including:
o    CCOF (Organic)
o    Kosher
o    Non-GMO Project Verified
•    Ensure alignment and consistency across global regulatory launches.
•    Drive process improvements in international regulatory workflows.
•    Check Master ECR list and track updates.
•    Monitor internally circulating ECRs

Product Data Management
•    Ensure product formulation accuracy and completeness.
•    Transfer formulas from Warrior Extensions to Product Formulation system in descending order.
•    Create new finished goods, bulk, packaging, and part numbers in ERP and send to Data Management.
•    Create and manage bill of materials (BOM) in ERP.
•    Perform cross-system data checks (Just Foods, ClickUp, Product Formulation, Master Spec Sheet.
•    Generate UPC codes in GS1 and manage allocations.
•    Create Statements of Composition. 

Certifications
•    Coordinate ingredient and label approval processes for:
o    CCOF
o    Kosher
o    Non-GMO Project Verified audit scope

Lab Technician and Applications Work
•    Take samples and blend with liquids per recipe directions.
•    Conduct sensory testing, document and analyze results. 
•    Clean lab area post-testing.
•    Perform scoop test analyses.
•    Collaboration with Production Team on fill line studies.
•    Conduct on-site application bench work.
•    Serve as hands-on liaison for formulation iteration and project execution.
•    Learn and perform formula and flavoring process iterations based on the direction of the Director of R&D.

International Label Compliance
•    Coordinate with Growve’s Amazon Canada and Mexico teams on label compliance.
•    Participate in weekly Amazon Canada compliance calls.
•    Respond to international regulatory requests.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
•    Familiarity with laboratory equipment and techniques.
•    Proficiency in data analysis.
•    Proficiency in Excel and MS Office Suite.
•    Ability to work independently.
•    Ability to learn and implement new processes.
•    Strong attention to detail.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
•    Ability to stand in a lab setting for small periods of time
•    Work in an office setting.
•    May be asked to travel.
