JOB SUMMARYIPURPOSE

Responsible for checking operations and installation/replacement and reading of gas meters.

 

JOB DUTIES!RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Turn gas service on and off per gas procedures.
  • Install and replace gas meters. Accurately read meters
  • Check operation of and adjust pressure regulator equipment. Investigating and repairing gas leaks on company and customer facilities
  • Make minor adjustments to customer’s appliances and relight appliances. Troubleshooting many types of customer requests. Cutting threading and pipe filling.
  • Utilize GIS technology and basic PC applications. Maintain accurate records in “Click Mobile”.
  • Investigation and write detailed report on any explosion, accident, fire, or damage or any kind on which assigned.
  • Applicant must live 35 miles from the work territory.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum experience required of the position

Mechanic I - Minimum I to 2 years of Gas Distribution experience or equivalent plumbing work experience.

Mechanic II - 2 or 5 year Gas Mechanic or equivalent plumbing/pipefitter experience.

Mechanic Sr - 5 years Gas Distribution experience

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Good mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and small power tools. Ability to communicate well with customers city inspectors, police and fire department officials. Ability to obtain and maintain D.O.T. Office of Pipeline Safety operator qualification as it pertains to gas service work. Good interpersonal skills along with good written and oral communication skills. Ability to interpret construction drawings to locate underground facilities. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Self-motivated and dependable team player. Familiar with local plumbing code. Ability to cut and tread pipe. Knowledge of Entergy’s “Click Mobile” application. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.

 

Desired: Knowledge of gas distribution system; Working knowledge of the AM/FM I GIS graphical program; Knowledgeable in MS Office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook); Knowledge of Entergy’s Customer Service policies; Familiar with service territory area.

 

Desired skills

Knowledge of Maximo.

Knowledge of LA81 I locate ticket process.

Ability to recognize and embrace opportunities for process improvement.

Ability to install meter sets

Strong mechanical aptitude

Good driving record

Ability to work with a large diverse team

 

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

Valid driver’s license.

Desired -Valid Chauffeur’s License

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONSIESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSIPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be available for 24 hour call out and extended hours as necessary. Ability to lift 100 lbs. As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company. Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.

 

As a safety sensitive position, compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials safety Administration (PHMSA) dwg and alcohol regulations, including but not limited to pre-employment drug testing and background screening.
