HybridCollins Aerospace is looking to fill a Senior Mechanical Design Engineering position within the hydro-mechanical, actuation & pneumatic valve design group. You will participate in product development activities, executes tests, and produces parts, designs, or sketches, following all appropriate Mechanical Engineering design, safety, and qualification standards.
The hydro-mechanical, actuation & pneumatic valve design group is responsible for hydro-mechanical components including jet fuel controls with functions of flow division, fuel metering, pressure regulating and high-pressure relief, as well as fuel-draulic actuators and pneumatic valves including butterfly, in-line and check valves. This position has a heavy focus on development, taking detailed component requirements and performing all analysis and specification reviews required to generate physical components. While developing these components performance, weight, envelope, and cost are critical and creative solutions to requirement competing requirements are often needed. This group has an added focus on complex 3D analysis including Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics to aid in the design of the most critical components.
What You Will Do
Ensures novel ideas and implementations are captured and protected using applicable IP processes and tools.
Design major components or major portions of functional systems or technically advanced prototypes using computer design and engineering systems
Develops data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes for components as well as facilitating manufacturing improvements
Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
Perform 1-D hand calculation analysis and complex 3-D simulations to aid in analysis of performance requirements
Generate solid models of components using 3-D modeling software such as NX Unigraphics to aid in packaging and weight estimations
Develop, test, and verify new analysis methods where applicable to improve the state of the art capability of Collins Aerospace
Develop in-house tools where applicable to improve the ease of performing analysis
