The Administrative Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides both clinical and administrative support in the care and management of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This role involves coordinating and managing healthcare services, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and maintaining accurate medical records under the supervision of an RN. The Administrative LPN acts as a liaison between healthcare providers, families, and other stakeholders, ensuring that individuals receive the highest standard of care in a supportive and compliant environment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Healthcare Coordination: Oversee and coordinate healthcare services for individuals with IDD, including scheduling appointments, coordinating with healthcare providers, and ensuring timely follow-up on medical recommendations.
Medical Records Management: Maintain and update medical records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with state and federal regulations. Ensure that all documentation is complete, timely, and accessible for audits or reviews.
Compliance and Regulation: Ensure that all healthcare practices comply with Georgia state regulations and guidelines related to the care of individuals with IDD. Stay informed of changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
Medication Management: Assist with medication administration and management, ensuring that all medications are administered according to prescribed guidelines and documented appropriately.
Training and Support: Provide guidance and support to direct care staff on healthcare procedures, medication administration, and other relevant topics as outlined by the physician and/or RN. Ensure that all staff are knowledgeable and compliant with healthcare protocols under the supervision of an RN.
Family and Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for families and other stakeholders regarding healthcare concerns. Provide updates on individuals’ health status and respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely and compassionate manner.
Crisis Management: Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate appropriate care, including contacting healthcare providers, documenting incidents, and following up on care plans.
Administrative Duties: Assist with various administrative tasks, such as ordering medical supplies, maintaining healthcare logs, and coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in healthcare delivery and administrative processes, and work with the team to implement changes that enhance the quality of care and efficiency of operations.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies, management, and other stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) preferred.
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, particularly those related to IDD care.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in medical record management systems and general office software.
CPR and First Aid certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Regularly required to lift 20 lbs.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Must be able to pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Required to regularly stand and walk.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing, and lifting.
