Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Business Relationship Specialist who will be responsible for Initiating, approving and servicing commercial loans, while overseeing accurate loan documentation. Responsible for developing and maintaining account relationships to ensure excellent Member service and manage an acceptable commercial loan portfolio quality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Relationship Management• Provide exceptional service to all Members, volunteers, internal team members and service providers.• Manage business loan relationships and accounts while offering and providing applicable services to Members.• Ensure loan documentation is complete and maintained.• Review loan delinquency reports to ensure assigned accounts are in adherence with contractual agreements.• Recognize unfavorable trends, recommend, and pursue corrective action. Make assessments on whether to adjust loan terms and/or pursue additional collateral as a necessity to avoid losses to RCU.• Prepare all necessary loan reports and grade changes for submission in a timely manner.• Apply appropriate risk grades and adjust grades as necessary based upon Member’s financial information.
Risk Assessment• Interview new and existing business applicants to develop information concerning their businesses’ needs, abilities, and earnings to determine whether loans may be an acceptable risk.• Analyze financial condition of Member’s using financial exhibits and other pertinent data.• Assess collateral requirements and/or value, and the Member’s management effectiveness and competency to form a basis for a sound credit decision.• Make independent decisions on loans within scope of predetermined lending authority.• Determine the loan structure best suited to the credit requirements of RCU.• Negotiate with the Member to reach terms to accommodate their needs, while being acceptable and profitable for RCU.• Write and/or review credit memoranda and obtain all required loan documentation, to support the analysis performed or reviewed.• Identify situations where legal aspects of commercial loan documentation may impact RCU and work with management to resolve.
Prospect Sales and Business Member Cross-Sales• Establish a portfolio of business Members and identify and solicit new business relationships within the community.• Call on prospects to develop new business relationships in accordance with RCU’s overall goals and objectives.• Propose business development strategies in RCU’s target market based on trends in the financial industry and in the local area.• Represent and attend civic and business groups to represent RCU.• Cross-sell business and/or consumer products to existing Members through an organized calling program.
Other Functions• Provide general assistance to VP/Business Services in department projects.• Compose and generate Business Services reports as necessary.• Complete special projects as may be assigned.• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to sell the concept of relationship servicing, close sales and negotiate fair service/loan pricing.
- Working knowledge of business and personal financial statements and tax return analysis.
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory aspects of commercial loan contracts and documentation, including real estate law, title insurance and appraisal process.
- Knowledge of credit underwriting, approval and documentation methods and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficient skill in the operation of a personal computer, with the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Skill in analyzing credit requests of moderate complexity.
- Ability to resolve moderately complex credit requests and problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.
- Ability to identify customer needs and match them with related RCU services.
- Ability to attend morning and evening meetings and events.
