Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing (Grains & Oils)

Due to an internal promotion, we are hiring a Senior Manager within our Strategic Procurement Team to be based at our corporate offices in either Bloomington or Marshall MN. In this role you will drive our grains and vegetable oils sourcing strategy—ideal for someone with a strong background in commodity risk management, supply strategy, and team leadership. 

 

Responsibilities: 

• Management of the grain and vegetable oil categories spend of up to $250m including research, negotiation, contracting, budgeting, and communication to all stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor two direct reports (category buyers) across grain and oil portfolios
• Support new product development by managing sourcing through the Stage Gate process
• Develop and implement supplier strategies to ensure quality, continuity, and cost optimization
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, R&D, and Finance to align supply and innovation goals
• Stay ahead of global market trends, supply chain risks, and emerging sourcing opportunities
• Utilize risk management tools and contribute to AI/ML models for improved forecasting and pricing
• Create and present strategic reports to senior leadership and key customers
• Lead supplier and plant meetings to resolve supply chain challenges and strengthen relationships

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience in a procurement role), MBA preferred
• 9+ years in a procurement role showing strong career progression and leadership, ideally within the CPG Food Industry
• Proven success in financial hedging, supplier development, and stakeholder engagement
• Strong project management experience to support projects for new products and savings efforts

Compensation and Benefits:

 

The base salary range for this position is $117,750 - $196,250 annually with eligibility for a 20% annual incentive bonus, which is based on organizational performance. The salary range represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to education, skills, work experience, certifications, geography etc. As such, starting pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor in Business Admin. or equivalent, MBA preferred

Years of Related Experience: 9-12 Years of related experience in the food industry

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office products and SAP to prepare reports and presentations for upper management. Solid communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency with data, category, and market analysis. Experienced negotiator with developed skills in strategy development and execution. The ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, achieve objectives, manage confidential information, and work cooperatively in groups. CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management) required. CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional Certification) preferred.
