The Vice President, Small and Mid-sized Business (SMB) Payments, Strategy & Planning Lead will help drive product strategy and delivery for Payments, focused on Small Business and Commercial client segments. We are seeking a talented and impactful individual with high IQ and EQ to drive strategic direction and connect the dots on a business agenda spanning multiple teams, partners, and LOBs. The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, a strong strategic thinker, strong communicator, and focused on execution. This candidate should also have superior influencing/relationship management and team leadership skills.
Job responsibilities
- Manage executive updates/communications to senior firm leaders and cross-LOB partners in the Commercial Bank, Business Banking, Asset & Wealth Management, and Corporate & Institutional Banking
- Manage team’s product review cadences working with product leads and build synthesized product and strategy roadmaps across teams
- Structure and lead strategic special projects (e.g., select new business opportunities / early evaluation of concepts, competitive / industry landscape)
- Partner with analytics teams to lead strategic analysis for opportunity sizing, product performance, P&L evaluation
- Set agendas for team cadences – team meetings, staff meetings, offsites (across triad of 100+ people)
- Work closely with Product and Finance on business cases / investment process
- Lead product discovery activities to assess product market fit and conduct early stage product development activities partnering with design and architecture teams
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- 5+ years product, strategy, business management, consulting or related experience; financial services experience preferred
- Proven track record of organization, strategy, structured thinking
- Interest in product management and payments innovation
- Proven track record of strong prior performance in demanding, fast-changing environments; flexibility and resilience strongly valued
- High EQ and IQ; strong focus on building interpersonal relationships and navigating complex, matrixed environments
- Strong executive presence; communication skills and comfort interacting with and presenting to all levels of management / team
- Strong ability to analyze opportunities & problems, recommend solutions, and communicate effectively & confidently (both verbal and written)
- Positive, team-oriented attitude and inspiring leadership skills a must
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Travel requirement: as needed as health & travel conditions permit
