About the role

If you are a Supply Chain professional with ambition to develop sourcing plans for New Product expansions and optimized manufacturing plans for existing production parts, Emerson has an exciting position for you! Based in our Marshalltown, IA location, (Flow Controls Global Headquarters!) you will have the opportunity to work with colleagues around the globe in a joint effort to build the supply plan vital for successful launch and efficient production of Fisher valve assemblies.

This role forms the link between design teams, marketing, operations, supply chain, and other parts of the business to align and develop the supply chain and production models that provide optimized cost and lead time while aligning to long term strategies.

Description of Role:

Key participant and contributor to New Product Development (NPD) teams with responsibility for supply chain plan throughout all phases of design projects. This role works closely with multi-disciplinary functions across the Global Supply Chain and Operations teams to assure chosen supply and production plans align with product and project requirements as well as business strategic objectives.

This role is pivotal in establishing the baseline material plan for new products and also works to implement, track, and supervise new component qualifications as projects progress to market release.
 

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Build and own the development of sourcing strategies new products as well as improving those for legacy product portfolio initiatives.
  • Deliver budgetary quotation details and provide costing assistance to design teams early in project cycle to support case development and cost goal alignment.
  • Conduct final quotation requests and Capex purchase requisitions as needed for tooling and partner with manufacturing sites for completion of first article/tryout part production ahead of release for sale/manufacturing.
  • Prepare and maintain timelines/records for supervising critical supply chain landmarks/actions, expenses, and other factors pivotal to project launch readiness.
  • Partner with SMEs within Operations & GSC to provide feedback to project teams relative to component design features that may result in unnecessary risks, increased cost, extended lead times, or other undesirable effects.
  • Actively participate/present in new product/part design reviews, technical assessments, and project launch approval meetings as an active project member and GSC/Operations representative.
  • Work as a team member with Marketing, Sales, Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing in the assessment and qualification of suppliers while confirming capability to meet cost, quality, service, and delivery requirements.
  • Serve as liaison between product design teams and the Global Supply Chain & Operations teams to communicate project achievements, challenges, and development needs relative to future product development plans.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of manufacturing make/buy strategies across all global production facilities and provide guidance on changes vital to achieve the best utilization with cost optimization.

  For This Role, You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Business Management, or related field.
  • 5+ Years of Operations or strategic supply management experience with domestic and international suppliers.
  • Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills: verbal and written. Experience with delivering presentations to communicate at all levels in the organization.
  • Technical competence to collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, purchasing, materials, and supply chain personnel.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret specifications and quality requirements.
  • Self-guided / able to perform with minimal guidance.
  • Confirmed digital literacy including MS Office applications.
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally, approximately 10-15%. Will vary by project demand.
  • Must be able to lead/participate in virtual global meetings held at early-AM / Late-PM hours due to time zone difference amongst global teams. (bi-weekly average)

     
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • Fisher product knowledge desirable.
  • CPM, CPSM, CPIM certification a plus
