About the Role

 We are seeking a talented individual to join Nature Medicine’s multidisciplinary, international team to champion research in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital medicine and health informatics. In this position, you will be soliciting primary research content in areas of strategic priority, handling the editorial assessment and peer-review of clinical research manuscripts in collaboration with the larger team, organizing events and engaging with the scientific community at conferences and site visits. 

Nature Medicine is the premier journal for translational and clinical research in the Nature Portfolio, publishing original magazine and peer-reviewed research in all areas of medicine based on originality, timeliness, interdisciplinary interest and impact on improving human health. 

This is a full-time permanent position, located in our New York or Milan offices on a hybrid working model.  

Role Responsibilities:

• The successful candidate will work closely with the Nature Medicine team on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, and overseeing the peer review process.

• You will be working in a team setting, striving to support and mentor others, and to maximize our collective success. 

• Be eager to travel and meet scientists and physicians worldwide, learn more about them and their research and solicit submissions in areas of interest.  

• Outstanding organization and time management skills; being able to set priorities for yourself and for others, and to adapt quickly to change.

Experience, Skills, & Qualifications:

• PhD or MD (or equivalent) in an area relevant for digital medicine, applications of artificial intelligence in medicine or health informatics, preferably with some post-doctoral experience. 

• Strong work ethic and understanding of the potential of scientific research to help to reduce health inequalities globally. 

• Be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment and understanding that our priorities may change with the evolution of medical research and what’s happening in the world.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be fluent in English (written and spoken).Candidates for the senior level position must have demonstrated editorial experience in the research field relevant for the position and familiarity with the clinical trials landscape, including peer-review and reporting standards.
