Pay Range
$44.15 - $66.25Major Responsibilities: Performance of the principle duties and responsibilities of the RN position and serves as a role model for professional practice. 1)Evaluates environmental safety and provides an environment that is safe based on age and developmental status. 2)Maintains unit, hospital, and management based competencies. 3)Demonstrates appropriate psychosocial intervention based on age and developmental status. In collaboration with the clinical manager, manages patient care delivery to optimize patient outcomes, customer satisfaction, and resource management. 10)Collaborates with care coordinators, care managers, utilization review staff and medical directors in relation to appropriateness of care. 1)Supports the development of the plan of care through collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. 2)Monitors customer satisfaction, in collaboration with the manager, shares results with staff, and improves in target areas. 3)Monitors associate satisfaction and addresses issues or concerns, to assure resolution. 4)Oversees staffing and scheduling, in collaboration with manager. Assures cost-effective methodology. 5)Participates in or is responsible for the interviewing, hiring, and competency assessment in conjunction with the clinical manager. 6)Assumes responsibilities in the absence of the clinical manager, in conjunction with the nursing director. 7)Serves as a clinical resource and mentor for staff. 8)Participates in or is responsible for the interviewing, hiring, and competency assessment in conjunction with the clinical manager. 9)Monitors and evaluates unit compliance with regulatory agency requirements. Promotion and support of an environment that is conducive to staff growth and development and autonomy. 1)Develops, monitors, and evaluates the role of unit-based preceptor. 2)Fosters ongoing professional development of staff by assisting with performance, assessment of needs and assisting individuals with identification of professional goals. 3)Defines, coordinates, implements, monitors and evaluates a unit-specific orientation program in conjunction with Center for Education and Development. 4)Provides for competency based education process for staff. 5)Promotes participation in educational opportunities. Collaborates with the clinical manager, medical director, and others in developing the strategic plan, direction for the unit, and utilizes CQI techniques. 1)Conducts performance reviews for staff on a timely basis, with particular emphasis on developmental goals, as delegated. 2)Implements monitoring systems defined for the unit to evaluate quality and adequacy of patient care. Implements measures to correct deficiencies. 3)In conjunction with clinical manager, participates in short and long range planning for the unit. 4)Identifies topics for and/or assists in the implementation of research process. Provides relevant education at the unit level. 5)Communicates results of monitoring of patient care to clinical manager and other health care team members as appropriate. 6)Participates in or is responsible for the evaluation of unit compliance with regulatory agency requirements. 7)Identifies and participates in CQI projects Responsibility for professional growth and development. 1)Keeps abreast of current standards of care via literature, education events, internal and external resources, and networking. 2)Participates in activities to enhance professional growth, such as involvement in professional organizations and continuing education. Licensure: Nurse, Registered (RN) Education/Experience Required: Three years experience in appropriate clinical area. Bachelor’s degree. Experience as a charge nurse (1+ year). OR Bachelor’s degree in health-related field plus 3 years’ clinical experience; Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Strong clinical skills. Ability to communicate effectively and work cohesively with a diverse work group. Utilization of critical thinking in timely decision making. Current RN licensure in Illinois. Demonstrated leadership experience. Certification in specialty areas, if applicable within 1 year of hire.
