About the role

Job Description

The Senior Program Manager will advance Nordstrom’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) strategy by managing the Regional Employee Resource Groups with multiple chapters in North America. This person will be responsible for creating and implementing the Regional ERG Strategy, directing ERG leadership, advising ERG Executive Sponsors, and ensuring the ERGs function at a high capacity. In addition, the Senior Program Manager will be assigned other projects that support the DIB goals and objectives. 

A day in the life... 

  • Serve as Employee Resource Group ambassador to Nordstrom and other stakeholders promoting the ERG value proposition to better connect with employees, customers, and potential new hires 

  • Develop Nordstrom’s Regional Employee Resource Group strategy, including how our ERGs will drive Nordstrom’s Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging goals and objectives 

  • Develop infrastructure and processes to improve efficiency of ERG operations 

  • Serve as an advisor and coach to ERG members and leadership teams 

  • Build relationships with ERG executive sponsors to ensure comprehension and alignment of DIB strategy and to gain their commitment to sponsor, participate in, and role model inclusive leadership behaviors 

  • Develop and implement annual strategic plans, events, and budgets for ERGs 

  • Collaborate with ERG leaders, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, and HR Business Partners in the development of policies and programs to attract, retain, and promote a diverse workforce and culture for the organization 

  • Alert leadership of trends/risks rising from ERGs 

  • Measure impact of ERGs on key DIB goals 

  • Partner with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team to promote diversity and inclusion in the communities where we serve our employees and customers 

  • Manage and communicate information about DIB and ERG strategy, initiatives, priorities and resource allocation  

  • Act as a project manager for other assigned projects that support the DIB goals and objectives 

  • Represent the Nordstrom culture in all project results and drive cultural and behavioral change through HR projects as necessary 

You own this if you have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Diversity and Inclusion, business strategy and operations, and/or HR leadership n, language, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, citizenship, immigration status, veteran status, and neurodiversity and other differences that make us unique 

  • Experience launching and/or leading an Employee Resource Group 

  • Ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of multiple facets of visible and invisible diversity: race/ethnicity, age, religio

  • Exhibit a track record of project management, bringing the ability to quickly put structure in place to manage tasks and related expectations 

  • Ability to work well under pressure, with proven time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and organize complex information 

  • Excellent listening and communication skills (including speaking and presentation skills, whether in the small group meeting or larger audience contexts) that demonstrate an understanding of the needs of each ERG 

  • Effectively builds partnerships and influences stakeholders and decision-making at all levels of a complex organization 

  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization up to the Executive Staff 

  • Ability to coach junior, peer and senior colleagues

  • Curious and aware of, and able to keep current on, developments and research in the field, particularly as relates to DIB and ERG engagement 

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field preferred

Location:

  • This is a hybrid role requiring the selected candidate to live within a commutable distance of Nordstrom's corporate offices in Seattle, WA and work onsite four (4) days per week.
