Position Statement
The Accountant position is at our Springfield, IL office located at 524 S. 2nd Street Springfield, IL. This position reports to the Fiscal Supervisor in the Fiscal Department. Essential Functions
- Maintains and reconciles financial transactions using state accounting system, including fund balances, expenditure reports and cash receipts, with external records such as records from the Comptroller’s Office and the Treasurer’s Office.
- Establishes and maintains financial records/ledgers, primarily for Fund 251 (DOL Special State Trust Fund) using standard automated and manual systems for departmental programs.
- Maintains the Department’s Accounts Receivables and collection records.
- Serves as back up for the other accounting functions which are performed in Federal Reporting and Grants, including but not limited to reconciliations, maintaining ledgers, and other accounting functions at the same or lower level as assigned by supervisor.
- Performs regular audits to ensure financial records and transactions are accurate.
- Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four years of technical accounting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience with accounts receivable functions.
- Two (2) years of professional experience with accounting principles, methods, and procedures.
- Two (2) years of professional experience with accounting reports.
- One (1) year experience with Electronic System Application and Products such as (SAP) including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System.
