Job Description

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, seeks a Storeroom Inventory Manager. The Storeroom Inventory Manager will be responsible to supervise and coordinate activities of the storerooms. This position will originate from the office located in Wheatland, PA and will have some minimal travel requirements to different sites. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this person will be responsible for all Storeroom related activities. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supervise, guide and coach storeroom attendants 
  • Work with storeroom attendants and purchasing to correct all material masters to ensure MRP and SAP accuracy 
  • Use MRP and SAP systems and stock order reports to identify and communicate required orders on a regular basis to purchasing 
  • Review reports week to week to ensure items have been ordered 
  • Establish the process for placing orders to minimize the one-part purchase orders in favor of large, more efficient purchase orders 
  • Adjust mins/max levels to eliminate excess order times as neededThe  
  • Participate as part of the plant management team to proactively implement solutions, set and achieve goals 
  • Responsible for setting annual stockroom inventory value and achieving it along with any management assigned tasks to reduce inventory values 
  • Responsible for ensuring no material goes obsolete during an equipment change over (capex) and working with the plant floor to time the equipment arrival/set up to the expected run out of stock, as well as coordinating any returns to the vendor 
  • Responsible to ensure appropriate approvals are gathered prior to making cycle count adjustments to inventory and process cycle count adjustment through SAP 
  • Work closely with plant management to monitor expenses and alert them to any usage that may adversely affect weekly budget 
  • Lead and follow up on the implementation of scanning, bar coding, SAP and all other new functionality that will improve the accuracy of inventory, be more efficient, decrease overall risk, and improve the data coming from the material purchase and usage to make informed decisions 
  • Work with suppliers to quickly resolve any quality issues including the requirement of their corrective action 
  • Maintain system performance by overseeing inventory cycle counts and system monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning, troubleshooting systems and operating on JIT and FIFO basis. 
  • Responsible to ensure cycle counts are completed on the prescribed timeline that will cover all parts within the year and key parts on a regular basis 
  • Responsible for working with the Storeroom Master Data administrator for the maintenance and coordination of the inventory material masters to ensure that the information is accurate and up-to-date at all times to ensure that all reporting issued is also accurate 
  • Supervise and administer the sending items out for repair (i.e., requisition creation, labels, info copy, etc.) 
  • Ensure that corporate and plant level procedures and safety policies are adhered to accordingly 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • Minimum of a Post-Secondary Degree 
  • 3-5 years of experience in similarly situated role 
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred 

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • SAP experience preferred 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and follow through on projects 
  • Top-notch communications skills, both verbal and written 
  • Ability to travel to different plant locations as needed 
  • Ability to immediately report suspected security incidents and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information 
  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role 
  • Some overnight travel may be required.
