Business Management Officer, MD - Chief Business Office, State Street Global Advisors

Purpose & Scope of Role:

The Business Management Officer is responsible for oversight and execution of the Chief Business Office’s growth agenda and strategic initiatives, while driving alignment and cohesion across SSGA. The individual will be responsible for implementation of strategic initiatives and their tie into broader SSGA plans, while removing road blocks and supporting communications across the team.

Specifically, the Business Management Officer will be responsible for:

• Business management: support the implementation and execution of the Chief Business Office’s strategic growth initiatives through driving prioritization, resourcing, and sequencing by accounting for business impact and resource constraints, while creating clear lanes of accountability
• Execution: partner with key stakeholders to implement change via actionable plans against key initiatives, and leverage support of the broader GA teams including Chief Administrative Office;
• Reporting:  monitor and track progress against the Chief Business Office’s growth plans and objectives and key results; influence and drive accountability, trouble-shooting as necessary to drive decision-making, as needed at the leadership level to close gaps at speed
• Communications: drive the planning, production, and execution of communications for the Chief Business Office creating visibility and buy-in across the teams into the vision, strategy, progress and engagement
• Firmwide partnership: build strong relationships across SSGA to support the business to effectuate change, and drive an understanding of the CBO’s, and ensuring alignment with SSGA’s strategy and growth progress against its growth agenda.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and track record of success including:

• Strong experience in the financial services industry for +12-15 years
• Ba/ BS or equivalent degree, preferably with a financial or business discipline; completion of CFA is a plus
• Proven experience of developing & leveraging relationships across multiple stakeholders
• Ability to orchestrate a complex and evolving strategic agenda, aligning senior leadership and driving execution across a matrixed organization
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage expectations in a fast paced, complex environment
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work independently and comfort with ambiguity
• The ability to work as part of a team creating an environment of cohesion and engagement
• Strong ability to motivate, mentor and engage high performing teams
• Strong active listening skills, highly collaborative, and transparent
