The Data Development, Insights & Strategy team is a  highly focused effort to lead digital-first execution and transformation at Red Hat, leveraging data strategically for our customers, partners, and associates.

 

We are looking for a Senior Person to drive the embodiment of open-source principles, data governance, and data quality best practices by pioneering an innersource paradigm for data product delivery at Red Hat. Within this role, you will help teams transition towards comprehensive automation of insights, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across various business domains. 

The ideal candidate will be able to work Hybrid in Boston MA, Westford MA or Raleigh NC.

What you will do

  • Establish a technical oversight committee for our innersource data products. 

  • Champion open-source development methodologies, tools, and best practices across domains.

  • Oversee open-source projects' design, development, and deployment, ensuring adherence to best practices.

  • Ensure data product codebases are maintained to high standards, addressing issues and improving code quality.

  • Able to work across domains, bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear communications.

  • Ensure clear and concise documentation for all developed projects, facilitating easy adoption and collaboration.

  • Ensure solutions follow security and data protection practices (e.i. authentication, authorization, encryption, and compliance).

  • Collaborate with maintainers and domain teams to manage data product releases and infrastructure maintenance. 

 

What you will bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science

  • 4+ years of expertise in open source practices and how to apply them in an innersource model 

  • Ability to work Hybrid in Boston MA, Westford MA or Raleigh NC
  • Familiar with established data governance frameworks and best practices

  • Understand data management principles, including architecture, modeling, integration, quality, and lifecycle management

  • Open source development and community management, including substantial contributions to open source projects.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in leading and mentoring development teams

  • Familiarity with issue tracking and version control systems (e.g., GitHub, GitLab)

  • Experience working with data platforms is a plus 

  • Knowledge of CI/CD best practices in an open-source context/agile environment
