Full-Time: 3 (12hr) Shifts weekly, 36hrs weekly
Shift: 7:30am - 8pm
JOB SUMMARY:
Functions as a Unit secretary for Hemodialysis (scheduling patient times, monitoring patient transport, answering phone, maintaining, updating, and filing of patient records…etc.). This position also allows for dialysis tech scope of care: setup and management of hemodialysis machines and ROs and patient care as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
In addition to meeting US training, must have and maintain a Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
CCHT, BLS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Completes clerical duties for patient scheduling, admissions, procedures, transfers, surgeries, discharges, and deaths under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Handles and screens incoming calls and transmits messages as necessary.
- Contributes to a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers by following established procedures.
- Ensures complete, confidential, accurate, and timely communication of patient information.
- Completes requisitions, data entry, and nursing communication forms.
- Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients, and family members in an effective, positive, and professional manner.
- Serves as a resource for other hemo techs, RNs and patients when needed (as assigned by RN) by assisting with maintenance of dialysis equipment including setup, breakdown, and care of the R/O.
- Maintains CCHT standards when caring for patients or equipment.
- Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth, and development.
- Conducts work in an organized, quiet, efficient manner and demonstrates ability to cope with stressful situations.
- Completes assigned unit responsibilities and assists other staff members in completion of their duties when time permits.
- Provides age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.

- Solid oral and written communication skills
