ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $165,000 - $190,008
- However, offer amount will be commensurate with candidate’s experience, education, skills, and training.
CSU CLASSIFICATION SALARY RANGE: $82,692 - $265,428
PAY BASIS: Monthly

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Civil Rights and Compliance, under administrative direction of the Vice President of People and Culture, provides strategic vision, leadership, and operational oversight for university-wide civil rights compliance. The AVP leads efforts to cultivate a diverse, inclusive, and equitable campus environment and ensures institutional compliance with federal and state laws including Title IX, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, and CSU Executive Orders regarding Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation (DHR). The AVP serves as the principal spokesperson and university representative for these compliance areas and is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of policies, procedures, and training initiatives that promote justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (JEDIB). The AVP oversees investigations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
The AVP also serves in the designated roles of Title IX Coordinator, DHR Administrator, and ADA/Section 504 Compliance Officer, and plays a key role in aligning compliance and equity efforts with the broader institutional mission and strategic priorities of California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Civil Rights & Compliance Leadership
- Lead and administer multiple major compliance functions in serving as the University’s Title IX Coordinator, Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation (DHR) Coordinator, and ADA/Section 504 Compliance Officer in accordance with CSU Executive Orders.
- Serve as the principal spokesperson for civil rights compliance and equity issues at CSUB.
- Identify, develop, and monitor university policies, procedures, and practices as needed to enhance efforts around Title IX and anti-discrimination compliance and initiatives to create a culture that exceeds the fulfillment of basic regulatory and procedural requirements with emphasis on fulfilling the justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging goals of CSUB.
