Senior Manager, Strategy & Portfolio Innovation

Responsible for developing and influencing ULs strategic plan(s) to ensure its continued successful growth and profitability. Conducts environmental scans, organization positioning analyses and other studies as needed. Identifies, investigates, evaluates and negotiates acquisitions/divestures, licensing opportunities and strategic business alliances that are in line with the ULs long-range goals.

• Work closely with the Leadership Team to manage and develop ULs strategic plans which includes setting priorities and defining the strategic direction.
• Conduct analysis of UL and the market to position the company to compete successfully.
• Identifies and develops opportunities for key strategic initiatives through the disciplined use of measurements, accountability, analysis.
• Identifies and supports the building of detailed business and implementation plans for key strategic initiatives.
• Support market intelligence gathering for potential acquisitions and business opportunities that are in line with ULs long-range plans.
• Participate as a key contributor on the Strategy Team and provide strategic direction to prioritize initiatives and allocate resources.
• Assist in M&A activities including conducting appropriate due diligence to ensure the reliability of information provided by potential targets.
• Responsible and accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams potentially across disciplines or locations or has significant influence over the performance of multiple teams.
• Manage the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.
• Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
• Performs other duties as directed.

• Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or related field plus generally 8 years of directly related experience.
• Hands-on experience in strategy development and M&A projects.
• Excellent business acumen with proven success in managing significant initiatives with strong results.
• Strong team player with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
