Summary

This work involves performance of a wide variety of unskilled activities in the area of custodial maintenance of buildings and facilities, maintains the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the Hinds County Board of Supervisors buildings.   Leads and trains lower-level staff; ensures buildings are clean and orderly condition. Notifying maintenance of the need for repairs.  They do by performing a range of cleaning tasks, from mopping and floor buffing to room sanitizing and disposal of trash, and other related activities as directed by the immediate supervisor.  Duties require little knowledge of any field of work and is performed under direct supervision of a superior in a higher classification.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.

Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other staff.

Comply with all applicable safety and health related rules, regulations, and procedures.

Perform job requirements; including but not limited to the following: clean floors, vacuuming of carpets, empty trash, clean stairwells, elevators, entrance ways, perform dusting and polishing, glass and restrooms, etc.

Maintaining a thorough inventory.

Using equipment, commercial vacuums, floor buffers and carpet cleaners

Collecting and taking out trash and recycling.

Secure equipment at the end of each shift.

All assigned work will be performed by the schedule.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED and one (1) year work experience and four (4) years related experience.
