Cubic’s Supplier Quality Department has an opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer who also possesses Auditor experience.As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you may also be responsible for developing, modifying, documenting and directing the implementation and evaluation of quality assurance programs and systems on one or more mid-size to large projects. Providing expertise and guidance in interpreting quality standards and regulatory requirements. Collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, strategic sourcing and commodity management to ensure quality standards are in place. Working on moderate to complex, and diverse problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of various factors.

Duties and Responsibilities
- The ideal candidate is a systems thinker with excellent analytical abilities, strong technical skills, effective written and verbal communication, and most importantly, a passion for developing suppliers to produce high-quality products in volume production.
- Monitor Supplier Quality Metrics KPI's and performance.
- Improve supplier performance through the reduction or elimination of defects/escapes.
- Meet or exceed established goals for supplier quality metrics and performance.
- Lead a Continual Improvement event for key processes in Supplier Quality.
- Identifies and recommends design, dimensional or manufacturing process changes and enhancements to improve products and reduce costs.
- Implements solutions to complex problems occurring internally and at supplier facilities.
- Determines technical objectives for quality assurance as well as approaches to completing projects.
- Interprets and adapts quality standards such as ISO 9001 and AS 9100.
- Acts as company contact with suppliers and internal personnel to resolve quality issues. Delivers technical presentations.
- Process Quality Notification (QN) tasks for supplier escapes and issue to supplier Quality Notification of escape.
- Initiate Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) and issue to supplier. Follow-up actions with supplier for closure.
- Create and manage defect reduction plans with suppliers and establish a recurring communication method for follow-up on actions.
- Request and review Supplier Request for Deviation (SRD).
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) for supplier defects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team for resolution of quality defects.
- Perform onsite or desktop/remote QMS/process/product audits at supplier, complete QMS audit report, Initiate SCARs from QMS audit and issue to supplier. Follow-up actions with supplier for closure.
- Complete initial supplier approval process for new suppliers.
- Perform On-site Source Inspection.
- Review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), (E.g. AS 9102) submitted by supplier.
- Be a subject matter expert in the disciplines of PCBA inspection, quality assurance and process control.
- Serves as the face of Supplier Quality for PCBA manufacturing suppliers and internally, communicating expectations and resolving issues.
Basic Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or related discipline and six or more years of related experience with a bachelor's degree or four or more years with a master's degree. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education. e.g., degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, materials science, etc.
- Must have strong understanding of quality management systems, processes, and tools.
- Must have the analytical ability required to develop creative solutions to complex quality issues and the skills required to present those solutions to internal and external contacts.
- Must be detail-oriented to accurately prepare statistical reports and technical documents in support of company objectives.
- Must have strong leadership skills to direct staff members and ensure project costs and schedules are maintained while representing the organization on technical quality assurance issues.
- Able to deliver effective technical presentations and work extended hours as required.
- Must have a strong knowledge of concepts, techniques, and methods in a particular field of specialization.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer-specific requirements
