Job Description

The community pharmacy residency is a 12-month experience designed to expand upon academic experiences in an integrated health care facility, and to provide further opportunity for knowledge-based development and expertise in the provision of pharmaceutical care.  The resident will gain an understanding of the pharmacy knowledge and applications necessary for successful practice in a community setting with extensive exposure to several different facets of health care.   Residents will develop an understanding of transition of care protocol development, formulary management, community pharmacy practice and the impact of market forces on health care.

Education

PharmD degree in Pharmacy required

Graduated from an ACPE – accredited School of Pharmacy

Experience

Experience with computerized pharmacy systems is preferred

Certification & Licensure

Virginia Pharmacy License required (or acquired within 90 days of hire)

Qualifications

Must be knowledgeable about medications, their pharmacology and dosage ranges for use in neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients
