Summary
The Career Development Coordinator will play a key role in fostering strong employer relationships and creating career opportunities for CIAT students and alumni. This position will lead outreach efforts to regional, national, and global employers across various sectors to enhance recruitment and work-based learning initiatives. This role involves developing customized recruitment strategies, coordinating professional development events, and continuously analyzing employment trends to assist students in all aspects of career planning to prepare them and connect them to internship and eventual job opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead outreach efforts to regional, national, and global employers across private, non-profit, and public sectors, targeting recruitment based on market trends, student interests, and outcomes data.
- Build and maintain employer relationships through networking, cold calls, mass mailings, and virtual engagements, while promoting high-quality internships and full-time opportunities for students.
- Identify employer needs to recommend tailored recruitment strategies, and offer customized solutions such as internship development, project-based experience opportunities, and targeted recruitment leads.
- Coordinate work-based learning experiences (e.g., guest speakers, mentorship, internships) to support student and alumni career development and industry skill-building.
- Proactively develop and implement strategies to enhance student and graduate employment opportunities, managing job postings and coordinating job fairs and workshops.
- Disseminate employment and internship opportunities to appropriate faculty, student organizations, and students, using resources such as Handshake, email, social media, etc.
- Track and report on employment outcomes, internship placements, and employer satisfaction, regularly analyzing job market trends to align services with emerging career fields.
- Gather feedback through surveys from students, alumni, and employers for continuous program improvement and accreditation purposes.
- Provide guidance and support for the electronic employer database (e.g., Handshake).
- Collaborate with marketing to create employer-focused materials and work with faculty and staff to improve student employment outcomes.
- Assist in designing career workshops and developing plans to reduce employment barriers for students.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance in managing participant and employer files.
- The Career Development Coordinator is expected to attend in-person career fairs, networking events, and local and regional workforce development and chamber events.
- Occasional evening and weekend attendance may be required to accommodate event schedules.
- Adhere to CIAT’s compliance requirements to ensure all Federal, State, accreditation, and institutional policies and procedures are being met.
- Follow communication guidelines to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and professionalism.

Requirements
- Two years of experience in corporate/industry or higher education career services environment.
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects effectively.
- Experience with job posting systems and employer databases.
- Knowledge of current and emerging technologies impacting industry-institutional relationships.
- Experience in budget planning and resource allocation.
- Ability to collect, analyze data, and use for strategic planning and assessment.
- Experience in grant and proposal writing is desirable.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to prioritize.
- Capability to handle confidential and sensitive information, following confidentiality guidelines.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey information and interact with students, colleagues, and others.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic; dedicated to quality, quantity, and timeliness of results
- Demonstrated ability anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment.
- Excellent analytical skills, problem resolution skills and general business acumen.
