Joining Collins Aerospace isn’t just about finding a job; it’s about embarking on a journey to redefine the future of aerospace technology.

The Senior Principal Engineer FPGA/ASIC works with a global team of engineers on electronic control units for aerospace applications to complete FPGA/CPLD designs, simulations, synthesis, lab integration, and certification. Examples include processor card interfaces for digital and analog input/output (I/O), digital and analog control of system sensors and electromechanical interface devices (EMIDs), I/O card FPGA controllers, specialty test FPGA controllers for cards and designs supporting vertical lift helicopter, fixed wing, engine, weapons, cargo, missile, & special test equipment controllers.

The Senior Principal Engineer FPGA/ASIC drives the entire FPGA/CPLD design life cycle from proposals and project planning efforts to entry into service and production transition support, including requirements definition using DOORS, detailed design, validation of requirements, verification of implementation, and certification when applicable. The Senior Principal Engineer FPGA/ASIC drives investigation into problem reports from manufacturing and customers on fielded units, and drives process improvements if needed.

What You Will Do

  • Create DO-254 Level A program planning documentation and ensure CPLD/FPGA design adheres to the plans
  • Capture and document the customer flowed down functional requirements, develop, and document the derived requirements for FPGAs/CPLDs
  • Drive FPGA/CPLD architecture design and develop VHDL to implement the design critical functionality
  • Perform static timing analysis and implement any changes needed to meet timing
  • Develop sub-functions and test benches using VHDL and/or UVMF/SystemVerilog
