Project Overview
Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of inter-continental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. As part of the Northrop Grumman GBSD nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration. A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Position Summary
This position is for a Control Systems Engineer who will prepare designs for systems associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase.
Responsibilities
- This role will support design development of systems and equipment for the GBSD program project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Work with other technical disciplines in a team environment.
- Develop design drawings.
- Review of and input to P&IDs Preparation of Logic diagrams, functional block diagrams, Instrument data sheets etc.
- Prepare instrument index and I/O list using automated tools, vendor inputs and Bechtel input as applicable. Develop equipment and material specifications.
- Develop procurement documentation.
- Design Building Information Modeling and coordination with other disciplines.
- Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design solution.
- Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
- Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer or Electro-Mech engineering from an accredited institution with 9 years of relevant experience; or in lieu of degree, 15 years of relevant experience.
Additional Qualifications
- Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings, calculations, and specifications for systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building systems.
- Experience with Microsoft office programs, VISIO, and other common computer programs.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively.
- Extensive knowledge and application Codes and Standards.
- Broad knowledge of the application of Control Systems engineering design principles.
