About the role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution. You will handle complex payroll tasks and collaborate with internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of payroll regulations and a strong technical proficiency.
Requirements
You will:
- Serve as payroll subject matter expert and manage end-to-end payroll processes for the organization, including data entry, calculations, reconciliations, deductions, audits, and tax withholding, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Review and validate payroll data, including timesheets, benefits, bonuses, and commissions, to ensure accuracy and proper authorization.
- Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and industry trends, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to integrate and streamline payroll processes, systems, and data.
- Lead and participate in payroll-related projects, such as HRIS Vendor selection, system upgrades, process improvements, and implementation of new payroll initiatives.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including tax filings, benefits statements, and payroll summaries, ensuring compliance and meeting reporting deadlines.
- Ensure data integrity and maintain confidentiality of payroll information in accordance with company policies and privacy regulations.
- Stay informed about emerging payroll technologies and best practices, making recommendations for process enhancements and system implementations.
- Have experience in the benefits space. Co-manage and administer employee benefit programs.
- Coordinate benefit enrollment, changes, and terminations in employee benefit plans. Assist the HR team during the annual Open Enrollment process.
- Work within the HR team to ensure benefits compliance on items such as ERISA and ACA as well as audits and Form 5500 filings.
- Collaborate with the VP of HR on benefit plan providers and vendors to negotiate contracts, resolve issues and optimizing plan offerings.
You have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Extensive experience in multi-state payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Experience transitioning from one payroll vendor to another.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, tax codes, and compliance requirements.
- Strong technical proficiency in payroll software, HRIS systems, and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- In-depth knowledge and expertise in the field of Total Rewards.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex payroll concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with utmost discretion and integrity.
