Senior Applications Developer (Hybrid)
A hybrid work schedule (three days remote, two days onsite per week) is available for this position.
At Colorado Springs Utilities, we are committed to providing safe and reliable utility services to our more than 500,000 customers in the Pikes Peak region. Our Customer Applications team plays a critical part in this through maintaining software systems that impact our customer experience. Our team is hiring a Senior Applications Developer to design, develop, enhance, debug, and package for release software solutions that support business initiatives related to customer service and smart meters. If you have experience with designing, configuring, developing, and implementing software systems, along with an understanding of programming and scripting languages, we want to hear from you!
What Does a Senior Applications Developer do at Colorado Springs Utilities?
- Translate functional designs and requirements into working code while resolving live operational issues
- Collaborate with analysts, project teams, and end users to validate software requirements
- Perform feasibility analyses on potential future projects and sharing findings with leadership to support decision-making and action
- Perform unit testing of developed code, defect analysis and research, triage, and resolution
- Participate in design work sessions and conduct peer code reviews
- Ensure compliance with our enterprise ITIL framework, including change and release management processes
- Prepare technical documents including solution designs, test plans, processes, and standards
- Communicate technical information to a variety of audiences (both technical and non-technical)
Who You Are
- Experience with software application development and maintenance
- Knowledge of web-based programming languages, scripting languages, object-oriented design techniques, and web-based information delivery concepts
- Proficiency with Unix or Linux shell scripting, Java, Groovy, SQL, Python, or SOAP/RESTful Web Services is valued
- Experience with Visual Studio IDE tools
- Experience with requirements gathering and performing design and code reviews
The following is valued, but not required, for this position:
- Knowledge of batch processing and workload orchestration concepts
- Proficiency with Git SCM and GitHub developer platform
- Proficiency with BPEL, Oracle Service Bus, or PL
- Experience with Oracle Utilities Customer To Meter (C2M), or with Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) or Meter Data Management (MDM)
