Our Site Reliability Engineering team leverages software engineering and infrastructure operations to create highly reliable and scalable software systems. The team is responsible for ensuring that Abarca’s infrastructure operates efficiently by assisting with the design, build, and maintenance of software systems that automate and optimize the deployment, monitoring, and performance of Abarca’s systems. By focusing on improving the reliability and availability of software systems through engineering best practices and tools, we manage complex distributed systems to meet our external Service Level Agreements and internal Operating Level Agreements.

As Manager of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) to join our team. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems is crucial. We’ll need you to play a pivotal role in achieving this goal by leading a team of skilled engineers and with cross-functional teams to collaborating on the design, build, and maintenance of reliable and scalable infrastructure and software systems. You will also support the organization in meeting our SLAs to maintain compliance and to identify and implement any existing or potential areas of improvement in observability and reliability.

The fundamentals for the job…

  • Lead, mentor, and develop and team of SRE’s to foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that emphasizes reliability, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Establish and maintain service level objectives (SLOs) and service level indicators (SLIs) to measure and improve the system reliability.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential reliability risks and ensure our systems are robust and resilient.
  • Collaborate on the deployment, configuration, and management of infrastructure components and to optimize system architecture and resource utilization.
  • Develop incident response plans and procedures to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
  • Promote automation practices to streamline repetitive tasks and enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to identify and address performance bottlenecks and optimize application code.

What we expect of you

The bold requirements…  

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field. (In lieu of a degree equivalent experience may be considered).
  • 8+ years of experience with Site Reliability Engineering including some leadership or supervisory experience, or a similar role.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Experience leveraging software development, site reliability engineering, within enterprise level organizations.
  • Experience in SRE best practices and principles, including error budgets, SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as Azure.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as DataDog, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Prometheus, SolarWinds, Grafana, or Nagios.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining comprehensive monitoring dashboards and alerting systems.
  • Experience, collaborating closely with other teams and stakeholders to ensure system reliability and availability.
  • Experience with problem-solving and troubleshooting within the network management arena.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization for making data drive decisions.
  • Commitment to staying updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical systems. Availability to work rotating or irregular shifts, including weekends and certain holidays, per business or operational needs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
