About the role
Swiss Post is seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our International Mail & Parcels Cluster. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and building the next-generation data platform that powers our international logistics operations. As we transition from legacy systems to a new international logistics platform and shift reporting from Tableau to Power BI, you will help create a scalable, modern data ecosystem that delivers real business impact.

What You Can Do:
− Design, develop, and maintain a modern, scalable Data Warehouse in the AWS Cloud
− Build and optimize ETL/ELT data pipelines using AWS Glue and Step Functions
− Integrate and transform large-scale datasets using Apache Spark and Scala
− Support the migration of dashboards from Tableau by delivering robust data models, pre-calculated KPIs, and analytical products optimized for Power BI
− Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to clarify requirements, align dependencies, and deliver high-quality data solutions
− Take ownership of key components within the data platform and contribute to ongoing improvements within an agile engineering team
− Ensure data quality, reliability, and transparency throughout the full data lifecycleWhat you bring:
− Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark
− Initial experience with Scala (or strong willingness to upskill quickly) and familiarity with the Iceberg table format
− Solid expertise with AWS cloud-native services, particularly: Glue; Athena; Lake Formation
− Experience with DevOps practices and version control tools (Bitbucket, GitHub)
− Strong background in data modeling and building enterprise-grade Data Warehouses
− Proactive, self-driven mindset with the ability to take ownership in a dynamic and evolving environment
Nice-to-Have Skills
− Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or data provisioning for BI tools
− Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
− Experience working in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban)
− Familiarity with modern data governance and cloud security concepts
Education
− University/technical college degree in computer science or comparable.
Language Skills
− English oral and written
− Optional: German oral (and written)− Willingness to travel
