Job Overview & Responsibilities

The Senior Vice President, Finance & Accounting is a key leadership role within the finance/accounting organization responsible for helping to drive the strategic direction of the company's financial operations. The SVP will work closely with the CFO, providing direct support and guidance in the development and implementation of the company's financial objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards. This role manages the financial operations of the business, including budgeting, forecasting, M & A activities and cost management in the government services environment. They will oversee the financial reporting and analysis process, ensuring the accuracy and timely delivery of financial data. This role is responsible for recruiting, hiring and managing a high performing finance and accounting staff. This role will also work cross-functionally with all other teams and organizations across the enterprise in support of the company’s business and financial objectives.

 

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

• Develop and implement financial strategies, policies and procedures to ensure fiscal accountability.
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing guidance and recommendations to the CFO and other senior-level management.
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports and analysis to assess the financial performance of the organization and provide guidance for decision-making.
• Manage the budgeting process, ensure compliance with internal controls, and coordinate financial audits.
• Lead the development of short- and long-term financial plans and forecasts.
• Monitor the development and implementation of accounting systems and controls to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data.
• Oversee the accounting functions and financial operations teams.
• Review and approve monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Develop and oversee tax strategies and plans to ensure compliance with local, state and federal tax regulations.
• Maintain relationships with external auditors, bankers and other financial institutions.
• Advise on investments, mergers and acquisitions, and other financial transactions.
• Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
• Oversee cash, investments and asset management area.
• Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
• Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets.
• Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal and local laws regarding company operations.
• Provide risk analysis and management to minimize financial and other risks. Implement risk management strategies and purchase appropriate insurance to protect company.
• Implement policies, procedures and processes in coordination with the CFO’s direction.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• 15+ years total accounting or finance experience, preferably with experience in a technology services company.
• Experienced in financial and organizational leadership roles.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Expert knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
• Knowledge of government contracting services compliance.
• Expertise in managing external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues.
• Able to be flexible and agile in responding to evolving business priorities and dealing with ambiguity.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
• Strong operational skills that will drive organizational efficiencies.
• Ability to collaborate across organization and with external stakeholders.
• Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong time-management and organizational ability.
• Sound business judgment, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of taking ownership and leading by example.
• Advanced presentation skills, with ability to guide and influence senior leaders and other key stakeholders
• Strong ability to perform in a high pace environment and multitask.
