About the role

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate within Chief Operating Office (COO) Technology. COO Technology provides technology services that support critical enterprise functions including operations, control management, strategic execution, business continuity and resiliency, data solutions, customer experience, regulatory relations, and enterprise shared services. This organization delivers and manages application portfolios and technology solutions that drive modernization, optimize processes, and enhance operational efficiency across the company.

In this role, you will contribute to the development, testing, and support of technology solutions that enable these business functions. You will work in a collaborative, agile environment alongside product, infrastructure, security, and data teams to support scalable, secure, and resilient systems.

This position is ideal for early-career engineers who are interested in building foundational experience in enterprise technology, data platforms, and modern engineering practices. You will gain hands-on experience working with programming languages such as Python, cloud-based technologies, and AI-assisted tools while supporting real-world business and operational systems in a highly regulated environment.

You will also participate in the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program. The CODE program is a two-year engineering development experience designed for individuals who are early in their technical careers. The program is intended for candidates with approximately 6 months to 2 years of hands-on engineering experience.

The CODE Program offers meaningful, real-world work combined with structured professional development, mentorship, and exposure to a broad range of technologies across the enterprise. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for promotion and continued employment, subject to business needs and performance expectations.

CODE provides:

  • Immersive onboarding and foundational technical training

  • A supportive cohort experience of peers starting their tech careers

  • Dedicated mentors and program managers who guide your development

  • Professional development, career coaching, and workshops

Wells Fargo only considers candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who do not require work visa sponsorship now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, test, and support applications and services using programming languages such as Python, Java, or other object-oriented languages, applying foundational knowledge of data structures and algorithms

  • Support data processing and engineering activities, including working with SQL, ETL/ELT pipelines, and distributed data frameworks to enable data-driven solutions

  • Contribute to building and enhancing web-based applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and integrating them with backend services

  • Work with cloud platforms and container-based technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, container orchestration tools) to support scalable and resilient application deployments

  • Apply systems design and testing principles to support development, debugging, and validation of application functionality

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, infrastructure, security, and data teams to deliver solutions aligned with enterprise standards

  • Use AI-enabled tools and techniques (e.g., prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and developer copilots) to improve productivity and support solution development

  • Analyze problems, identify patterns, and implement solutions that improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency

  • Support security, privacy, and risk requirements by adhering to enterprise policies and contributing to secure design and development practices

  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing
