Job Description

As a Security Officer - Retail Patrols in Piscataway, NJ, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls and more .

As a Patrol Unarmed Officer with Allied Universal, you will play an important role in supporting a secure and welcoming environment at a premier retail location. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting routine patrols throughout the store and surrounding areas, maintaining a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and delivering exceptional customer service to guests and staff. You will utilize your observation and communication skills to address any issues that arise, respond to situations as needed, and work collaboratively with store personnel. What You’ll Do:

• Use our proprietary scheduling platform to claim open shifts at client sites
• Support operations across a range of environments including commercial real estate, healthcare, and education
• Receive site-specific training and guidance from experienced teams
• Deliver consistent, professional security presence and customer service
• Be ready to fill in at short notice when urgent needs arise

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures and site-specific policies, and responding to emergency situations when appropriate.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm and problem-solving manner, following established protocols.
• Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the retail location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify potential concerns.
• Monitor entrances, exits, and high-traffic areas to help to deter theft, loss prevention issues, and/or suspicious behavior.
• Observe and report any unusual activity or security-related incidents to Allied Universal and/or client management as required.
• Support access control procedures to help to deter unauthorized entry and maintain a welcoming environment for customers and staff.
• Work collaboratively with store personnel and Allied Universal team members to address security-related concerns and provide assistance as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• A state, county, or city issued security-related license is preferred.
• Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Experience in loss prevention is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
