Job Title: Unit Software License Manager (USLM)
Reports to: On-Site IT Program Manager
Summary/Objective:
The Unit Software License Manager provides technical support to government customers and manages the installation, coordination and removal of software on IT assets and manages all software licenses owned by the organization. This role requires very strong customer service skills, advanced technical aptitude, digital asset management practices, and experience with government documentation and processes. The USLM will conduct trainings for users in support of unique software purchased or developed by the organization, coordinate all non-enterprise software acquisitions, establish accountability of Software as a Service (SaaS) licenses, utilize software discovery tools, conduct annual and out-of-cycle inventories, and maintain accountable records and documentation. Maintaining excellent customer relations and ensuring compliance with established procedures are integral functions of this role.
Responsibilities:
This individual will deliver unit-level focal point services for managing the installation, coordination and removal of software on IT assets. This individual is responsible for establishing accountability of software licenses and maintaining accountable records for the life of the asset upon receipt of invoices and ensures unused or underutilized software licenses are identified for redistribution, reutilization, or disposition. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of providing excellent customer service and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Equipment/Systems:
This position requires frequent use of computers, printers, and various software applications. Experience with change control and software approval processes, the Air Force Evaluated Products List, and Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT) is essential.
Competencies: The Unit Software License Manager role requires superior attention to detail, accuracy, excellent listening skills, and effective communication. The ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently is critical.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This job operates primarily in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Duties may require lifting of computer equipment, using ladders, walking large office buildings, and loading/unloading of boxes, containers, or trucks.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time exempt position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, regular business hours; additional hours as needed to ensure performance across the program.
Travel: Primarily local travel for user support
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer or IT related field.
- Security+ or equivalent DoD 8140 certification.
- 10+ years of experience in IT software and license management.
- Strong knowledge of DAFMAN 17-1203 and DoDI 5000.76 requirements.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience with government asset management and property custodian responsibilities.
- Experience with acquisitions and managing software license agreements.
- Experience supporting government customers.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance:
- Requires active Secret clearance from the U.S. Government.
