Pay Range

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.   Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus. 

The purpose of the Senior Lab Technician's position is to engage in material and testing research, development, and characterization in Johns Manville Roofing Systems. The technician will be responsible for utilizing laboratory and testing skills along with knowledge of instrumentation to support JM roofing projects.

Your Day to Day:

• Engage in characterization of materials per a specific technology (physical, chemical, destructive, etc.)
• Perform laboratory testing, experimentation, analysis and utilize standard procedures.
• Collaborate in problem solving with other JM or non-JM team members Document laboratory results through reports or presentations
• Perform standard maintenance and upkeep of general laboratory areas and equipment
• May be required to perform other related duties as assigned Work thoroughly and safely in all activities

What You Bring to the Team:

• High School diploma with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience and/or equivalent JM experience
• Experience and skill in the operation of standard laboratory equipment
• Experience and skill in general laboratory practices
• Solid skills and knowledge in the technical field of interest specific to the position
• General knowledge of scientific equipment and capabilities in laboratories outside the direct area of expertise
• Thorough knowledge of good laboratory practices in regards to documentation and quality assurance and an ability to operate within these general practices
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Proven analytical and quality improvement ability
• Minimal travel required (0 - 10 days per year)
• Work environment is typical of a research and development facility (may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.)
• May require lifting of materials up to 50 lbs.
