About the role

Summary

The Assistant Director of Development – Foundation Relations reports directly to the Senior Executive Director for Development and is responsible for assisting the Senior Executive Director of Development with managing the institution’s largest, most complex foundation donors in the process of proposal development, design and reporting.

 

Hybrid work schedule: Onsite days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday

Job Duties

  • Assist the Senior Executive Director of Development in the production and timeliness of major foundation proposal and reporting content, specially assisting in the management of major foundation donors.
  • Assist the foundation and corporate relations team with the identification of private sector grant funding prospects and the development and preparation of grant submissions.
  • Support the research and data management teams in prospect and portfolio moves management.
  • Support the Senior Executive Director with major foundation activities including grant reporting, national symposium planning, proposal development and design, website updates, cover letters, nomination letters, etc.
  • Participate in off-site/in-person external foundation and corporate engagements as appropriate.
  • Assist the Senior Executive Director in documenting all activities using Raiser’s Edge donor system.
  • Work with Senior Executive Director to ensure compliance with grant submissions, restrictions and reporting requirements. Often, different outside systems are utilized by foundations, such as Proposal Central.
  • Maintain master calendar of grant submissions and assist in submitting foundation opportunities to the various listservs throughout the institution.
  • Assist and support the development, resourcing and reporting for weekly foundation and corporate planning meetings.
  • Maintain a central office library of supporting documents such as faculty bios, CVs, IRS forms, board lists, etc. that are needed for grant submissions and event planning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in foundation relations or similar experience, with proven results in securing grants.
  • Healthcare fundraising experience.
  • Skilled in composing letters, memos, articles, proposals, and other written communications.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills required. Experience communicating with community stakeholders required.
  • Technical proficiency and knowledge (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Raiser’s Edge, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Ability to work with highly confidential materials and have familiarity with financial information, including ability to understand and review complex grant budgets.
  • Demonstrated personal initiative and team player with a positive attitude and professional appearance.
