About the role

The Divisions of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery,  Metabolic and Abdominal Wall Reconstructive Surgery, Breast and Melanoma surgical oncology, and Endocrine Surgery are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work as part of a collaborative team of consultants, fellows, residents, nursing, and other staff to provide 24/7 coverage managing the inpatient care of adult general surgical patients undergoing complex liver, pancreas, gastric, abdominal wall reconstruction, endocrine, and breast procedures.  NP/PAs are valued members of surgery team, where teamwork and collaboration is essential to meeting the needs of the patients for whom we provide care.

 The NP/PA hospitalist team conducts comprehensive assessments of patients including: ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, diagnosing, prescribing of pharmacologic agents, treatments and non-pharmacologic therapies where a high level of autonomy is expected.

Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and nurse practitioner program. Current Minnesota RN license and certification, or eligible to be certified, as an ANP, ACNP, or FNP or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by the NCCPA and registration as a PA by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice. The NP/PA must be eligible for DEA registration.

Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges. Strong written and oral communication skills are required and must have demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.
