Production Specialist

OVERVIEW

Perfetti Van Melle (makers of Mentos, Airheads, Dentyne, Trident and Bubblicious!) is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum with global brands that are being enjoyed in more than 150 countries worldwide. We’re currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Production Specialist to join our growing team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Production Specialist is responsible for increasing the ratio of value to non-value and eliminating waste on their assigned shift. The Production Specialist will be responsible for all root cause analysis and problem-solving activities via the 4 types of Problem Solving on their assigned shift. Additional responsibilities include:

• Organization and execution of process implementation for all root cause actions that involve cross functional stakeholders.
• Authority in the decision-making process for line shutdown/startup, escalation, and non-conformance resolution on their assigned shift.  They will also be responsible for their shift adhering to the SQDCPI pillars of Lean Leadership.
• Analyze production performance and implement process improvements to minimize downtime, reduce material and labor requirements, and lower overall cost per case of our products while maintaining a continuous improvement environment.
• Work closely with the Continuous Improvement Manager on PPE, TPM, AM and War on Waste initiatives. 
• Lead and own all off shift (weekend and night) PMOS exercises.
• Responsible for building capability in equipment operation to operators and Production Team Leads.
• Responsible for teaching and developing Production Team Leads capability in root cause analysis, counter measures, and implementation.
• Participate in and/or lead all Kaizen Events in the Plant.
• Utilize all tools for downtime tracking (Vorne) and manage compliance inside the Value Stream.
• Participate in and/or lead all hiring events of front-line operators for the Value Stream.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Journalism or HR business. 
• 2 years’ experience—can be a combination of corporate internships and post-college entry level roles. 
• Demonstrate experience working in a corporate internal communications environment or agency experience with client’s internal communications programs. 
• Some knowledge of HR communications is preferred and experience with “shop floor” or hourly workforce communication is desired. 
• Strong writer (samples will be requested) and editor with an eye for a story.  
• Basic photography and video story telling skills; Canva content creation and video editing; Proficient with MS365 Suite including Outlook, PowerPoint, Sharepoint and Teams.
• Must be highly organized and generally proficient with learning new information, skills or software.
