The Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Educator embraces and advances the Catholic and Franciscan mission of the University by ensuring that all MLS Program activities are consistent with the mission and are implemented so as to achieve its goals. This position works closely with faculty members to prepare and assist in providing a safe learning environment where students can apply laboratory concepts presented in courses to master a variety of laboratory procedures. This is a PRN position. Responsible for fulfilling and sustaining the duties and functions specified by established appointment and promotion criteria, including teaching and service to the school and community.
Teaching
a. Actively engages in the Catholic and Franciscan mission and identity of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University by modeling the Franciscan Values, promoting justice from the communities we serve, and integrating the Catholic and Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
b. Implements curricular and instructional interventions.
c. Develops student learning outcomes.
d. Utilizes peer review and coaching.
e. Applies what has been learned from formative and summative feedback on instruction.
f. Engages in professional development activities to promote development in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Advising
a. Reflects on summative students’ evaluation of academic advising experience
b. Assesses reports and perceptions of peers and others regarding fidelity to academic advising roles and responsibilities
Contribution to role-related knowledge base
a. Presents at local, state, national and international professional conferences
b. Demonstrates publication of works identifying type (i.e., peer review), audience (i.e., journal and journal distribution), and focus (i.e., discovery, application and/or integrated knowledge focus)
c. Demonstrates citations of own work(s) in others’ works
d. Solicits and participates in funded research (identifying specific role, funding source, and status of project)
Professional Service
a. Participates in local, state, national, or international professional agencies
Community Service
a. Actively participates in community groups and organizations, as related to the College’s mission
Institutional Service
a. Participates in committee work at the program, school, or institutional level (delineate roles and nature of participation)
- Experience: One year of clinical laboratory practice
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Science
- Training: General knowledge in a wide variety of Laboratory
- License and Certification: Medical Laboratory Scientist, Generalist
