Duties
Support projects in the Power, Oil & Gas, Data Center, Telecom or Water industries, ranging from $100,000 to $1 billion. Closely monitor project cost and schedule and provide key analysis on project trends, identifying and providing mitigations for project-specific issues as they arise. Effectively lead a team of project control professionals and positively influence internal and external clients. Confer with PM team on project execution matters. Participate in key risk management discussions. Participate in and lead any potential claims issues. Interface with the site team to manage project controls functions as required. Supervise subcontract administration when assigned. Ensure startup planning is at the appropriate level of detail. Lead in shifting controls functions from Home Office to site. Handle commercial issues and provide leadership and guidance to less experienced project control personnel. Perform project team supervisory responsibilities. Achieve a high level of forecasting accuracy. Address project issues therefore supporting a successful project outcome. Lead proposal efforts. Lead cost control team on more complex projects through all aspects. Address contractual requirements related to cost control. Lead planning and schedule preparation on more complex projects including startup planning. Address contractual requirements related to schedule control. Recognize critical issues and interfaces. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline plus at least eight years of related experience. Must have experience utilizing planning and scheduling software Primavera P6. Must have experience with the Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must have experience performing project control duties, including Cost Control & Management; Planning/Scheduling; Earned Value Management; Change Management; and Risk Analysis, including Monte Carlo simulations. Must have experience with forensic scheduling concepts including Time Impact Analysis. Must have experience developing, analyzing, and tracking the cost/schedules and resolving project challenges throughout the project lifecycle. Must have experience independently applying advanced project controls techniques and analyses. Must have experience leading a team of project control personnel. Telecommuting is permitted within standard commuting distance of the Black & Veatch Houston Office. National travel required up to 10%. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English. Work Environment/Physical Demands
Office Environment: This position requires sitting, talking, hearing, keyboard input and seeing. Occasional travel up to 25% may be required.
Construction Site Environment: This position requires standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, moving, and walking long distances in and around confined, cluttered places and uneven areas. It also requires the ability to see and hear naturally or with correction, work at heights above 5 feet, climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, and scaffolds and work up to a 12-hour shift. The work environment may involve cramped workspaces, very hot or cold temperatures, inclement weather, extreme lighting conditions, distracting or uncomfortable noise levels, and hazardous equipment.
