Manager of Tooling & Equipment

Summary – Responsible to ensure tools and equipment are available at work sites, complete as required for the job at hand, in working condition, at the time needed and at minimum cost to Voith Hydro. Work sites include all Voith Hydro erection and field machining sites. Support mobilization and demobilization of field sites.

Responsibilities –

• Ensuring compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements for tooling and equipment and within the tooling and equipment operations.
• Identifying and planning tooling and equipment needs in North America.
• Overseeing and managing the acquisition, tracking, maintenance and calibration of tools and equipment.
• Defining and facilitating the storage and distribution of tools and equipment to and between work sites and storage locations.
• Supporting the mobilization and demobilization of field sites with temporary onsite personnel as needed.
• Oversee and lead the management of the company vehicle fleet.
• Defining and implementing systems, processes and operational procedures.
• Defining standards and templates such as standard tool kits, standard tool and PPE lists.
• Developing and implementing operational excellence and cost saving programs and initiatives.
• Supporting project job specific planning in OTO and OTC.
• Participating in innovation projects for field erection and machining such as automated machining and welding processes at site.
• Lead, manage and supervise a diverse team.

 

Main working relationships

• Field Service roles such as Field Service Management, Field Service Engineers, Site Managers/Supervisors, Field Machining Supervisors.
• Other functional areas such as project management, engineering, sales, purchasing & logistics.

 

Qualifications –

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience as Supervisor and/or Manager
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, schedules and budgets.
• OHSA 10 certification required and OHSA 30 certification preferred.
• Previous experience as a field supervisor on Hydro Turbine/Generator Project.<
