The position will oversee and manage the layout operations for our construction projects. This role is critical in ensuring that all layout activities are executed with precision, meet project specifications, and align with overall project schedules. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction layout, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of concrete construction processes.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Review project documents.
- Understand the objections of the site survey and provides horizontal and vertical control using Total Stations.
- Participate in basic layout and field engineering activities. These activities would include:
- Establish control lines from control points.
- Layout Foundations.
- Layout vertical formwork such as columns and walls.
- Establish elevation control points.
- Layout decks and deck edges.
- Layout required embeds block-outs and other items required by contract.
- Heavily involved with initial set up of overall project layout controls as well as staffing the project with a Layout Engineer the best fits the project.
- Facilitate weekly meeting with the Layout Engineer group to help assess what needs and where additional support can be given.
- Coordinate As Built is being completed and their dissemination to the proper parties in a timely manner.
- Verification/Involvement that QA/QC is being done as it relates to layout.
- Ongoing daily knowledge of project schedule as it relates to layout for scheduling purposes.
- Coordination and Communication with Super on site as it relates to layout making sure all needs are met.
- Review of drawing changes and uploads of CAD files by the Layout Engineers.
- Assist Project Team in problem resolution using experience and expertise in their area.
- Participate in weekly NBU Schedule meetings to globally arrange resources to meet schedules for all jobs across the country.
- Participate in NBU Operations Meetings in order to discuss status of Layout on the projects and ways to improve.
- Lead through example when it comes to safety and travel to the projects as required.
- Coordinate travel schedules to be effective on critical activities and cost conscious when booking travel.
- Coordinate the CAD files at the beginning of each project with the Layout Engineer to ensure the correct files are loaded.
- Report any GC issues or deficiencies to CSI upper management for coordination in Operations meetings.
Education/Experience/Attributes/Requirements:
- Position requires a Bachelor's degree (Civil Engineering, Surveying, or related field) or foreign degree equivalent; and 5 years of experience.
- 5 years of experience with layout design standards, tolerances, and best practices.
- 5 years of experience in layout design software, including any combination of the following: AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Cadence Virtuoso, or L-Edit.
- 5 years of experience with applying construction documents, blueprints, and IC layout schematics.
- 5 years of experience with industry-specific codes and regulations, including any combination of the following: NEC, ISO, LEED, DRC, or LVS.
- 5 years of experience with the full layout design lifecycle from conceptual design to construction or fabrication.
- Position requires relocation to various unanticipated project worksites within the continental U.S.
- Position requires up to 75% of time at assigned project worksites, including various unanticipated project worksites within the continental U.S. In addition, the position requires domestic travel up to 25% of time to project worksites.
