Are you a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), interested in working in a Substance Use Disorder program? Our Clinical Medical Assistant provides a variety of technical, clerical, receptionist, and patient care services under the supervision of the site supervisor or medical practitioners. They assist in gathering patient medical history, taking and recording vital sign information, and occasionally assisting with minor, office-based procedures. Medical assistants are essential to delivering high-quality patient care for our SUD program. 

 

This position has a pay rate of $17.50 per hour.

The Medical Assistant is accountable to the SUD Program Supervisor to provide assistance to the medical team and the assigned clients. Medical assistants provide a variety of technical, clerical, receptionist, and patient care services under the supervision of the site supervisor or medical practitioners. They assist in gathering patient medical history, taking and recording vital sign information, and occasionally assisting with minor, office-based procedures. Medical assistants are essential to delivering high-quality patient care.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, collecting basic intake information, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
  • Assists patient in intake process; collecting insurance, completing insurance intake steps, initial and ongoing scheduling, and handling correspondence between Samaritas and external collaborators.
  • Work with the Medical personnel and, if applicable, the clinical team, to collaborate on treatment planning, case consultation, medical consultation, and client needs.
  • Work cooperatively with other external community service providers as they work collaboratively to meet the needs of the families in their care.
  • Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary.
  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing, maintaining and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
  • For the purposes of coordination of care, follow community partner, PIHP, CMH, and agency guidelines when providing treatment with patients receiving medical treatment.

    Job Qualifications

     

    Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

     

    • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred

     

    Experience

     

    • 1+ years in a medical office preferred
    • Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), medical terminology
    • Previous experience in specific medical field preferred

    Additional Work Requirements

     

    • Valid unrestricted driver's license with good driving record and proof of automobile insurance.
